Training in Principles of Ethics and Regulation of Use of Animals in Research

On May 14, 2018, training in the principles of ethics and regulation of the use of animals in research was held. Drh Fitriya Nur Annisa Dewi, PhD as Chair of the Commission for the Supervision of Welfare and Use of Animal Research, Testing, Controlling & Education (KPKPHP4) explains the importance of research ethics in the use of animals especially Research Veterinarians.

Not only for people who are directly involved with research, but all PSSP staff and employees must understand what must be considered when using animals in research, therefore this animal ethics training is given as an annual mandatory training for all PSSP staff and staff.

In this training explained, why the animals used in the study include:

1. Similarities between human organs and animals

2. Vulnerable to the same disease affecting humans

3. Has a relatively shorter life span

4. The environment is easily controlled

The Primate Animal Study Center in the study has fulfilled ethics and refers to AAALAC, because the PSSP has been internationally accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
