Student Field Lecture Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, IPB

As one of the activities from the Marine Biodiversity (KHL) course and the Marine Biodiversity Mapping (PSHL) course on March 20-22 2018, around 78 students from the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, conducted activities field lectures in Muara Binuangeun and Tinjil Island. Guided by lecturers from the department, these students carry out various activities such as taking pictures and exploring marine biodiversity in the Muara Binuangeun and Tinjil islands which are scattered in mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems. Diving is also done in the sea around Muara Binuangeun and Tinjil Island to measure coral reefs.

For the PSHL course the students took data on the benthic habitat and surrounding infrastructure in the Binuangeun area. Retrieval of benthic habitat area data is carried out in seagrass ecosystems while infrastructure data retrieval is carried out by observing some important infrastructure in Muara Binuangeun. The results of the data collection will later be processed into a map.

This activity is expected to be a useful collaboration for both PSSP and students of the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of IPB.
