Member of Ethics Training at the National Nuclear Agency (BATAN)
PSSP Researcher LPPM-IPB namely Drh. Imelda L. Winoto, Sert. DHPHL and Drh. Fitriya Nur Annisa Dewi, PhD, Cert. LAM was the resource person for the ethics training in the use and maintenance of research animals organized by the PUSDIKLAT BATAN on April 24-25 2018. The training was held by BATAN internally as a continuing professional development activity for members of the BATAN Ethics Commission for Use and Experimental Animal Care (KEPPHP), and prospective members of the next KEPPHP BATAN, among others, are BATAN researchers involved in research involving laboratory animals.
The PSSP of LPPM-IPB and BATAN have collaborated on several previous occasions, including in the development of KEPPHP BATAN from 2009 to 2012.
In the training, Drh. Imelda and Drh. Fitriya held active discussions with the participants regarding the ethical principles and regulations underlying the use of laboratory animals, as well as the functions and role of the ethical commission for animal welfare assurance within the scope of research and testing in BATAN. The training participants represented several BATAN work units such as the Isotope and Radiation Application Center, the Center for Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical Technology, the Center for Safety Technology and Radiation Metrology, and so on. It is expected that knowledge-sharing forums such as these activities will continue in the future to advance biomedical research in both institutions.
