Animal Conservation Laboratory

The Animal Conservation Laboratory has two main activities, namely the semi-natural breeding of long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) on Tinjil Island, Banten and ex-situ captivity of Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch), tarsiers (Tarsius spectrum and T. bancanus), and slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) in the PSSP Breeding Facility LPPM-IPB, Lodaya, Bogor. Besides being used for breeding activities, P. Tinjil is also used as a place to conduct research and training for students and researchers from home and abroad. Primate Conservation Biology training is held regularly since 1991 through collaboration with the International Program Division, Washington National Primate Research Center, University of Washington, USA. Starting in 2004, outreach education programs for elementary school students around the IPB Baseceamp Transit, Muara Binuangen, Banten were integrated into the training activities.
