Training on Waste Disposal and Packaging for the Delivery and Acceptance of Biological Samples

Primate Animal Study Center LPPM-IPB holds an annual routine training program held on 29 August 2018 in the PSSP Meeting Room of LPPM-IPB. With the topic “Training on Disposal of Waste and Packaging for the Delivery and Acceptance of Biological Samples”, speaker Dr. Silmi Mariya, SSi, MSi.

This annual training must be attended by staff and employees of PSSP LPPM-IPB, Dr. Silmi explained about:

1. General procedures for disposal of waste and decontamination such as

  • Self protection by wearing gloves, masks and work clothes
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines relating to chemicals
  • Don’t stack garbage
  • In accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Identity of garbage bags

2. One of the countermeasures for waste in the PSSP

  • Carcasses and tissues that have not been used must be stored in a biohazard bag
  • All biological waste must be incinerated
