Primate Animal Study Center Meeting with the Aspinall Foundation
On Monday 12 March 2018, a meeting was held between the Primate Animal Study Center and the Aspinall Foundation. At the meeting, Jane Hopper MA Head of the Aspinall Foundation Veterinary Services delivered her presentation entitled “HBV in Hylobates moloch”. In his presentation, Dr. Hopper explained that Javan gibbons were chronically infected by Hepatitis B gibbon, HBV showed no clinical symptoms and did not threaten the Javan gibbon population. After the presentation an interesting discussion was held between PSSP researchers and Aspinall Foundation practitioners, especially regarding the health of conservation primates to be released. PSSP and Aspinall have collaborated mainly for animal health checks at the Aspinall Foundation.
