Biomedical Program
Biomedical programs carry out the development of science and technology through educational activities, research, training, and publications related to primatology biomedical scope. Its activities carry out basic and applied biomedical research for non-degenerative (infectious) and degenerative diseases. The scope of infectious research is for example AIDS, hepatitis B, malaria, human papillomavirus, dengue and others, while degenerative studies such as risk factors for coronary heart disease / atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, diabetes, asthma, and others. Attempts to conduct this research, then developed various types of primate animal models, especially in long and monkey tail monkeys. PSSP IPB carries out all of these activities by prioritizing / promoting animal welfare consistently. This was demonstrated by gaining recognition of Animal Welfare Assurance (#A 5287-01) from the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, Public Health Service, National Institutes of Health, US Department of Health and Human Services. Also, biomedical programs are supported by Lodaya II No. 5 Campus animal research facilities that have received AAALAC International international accreditation from 2006 to the present. The accreditation shows that the research activities in the PSSP LPPM-IPB follow the conditions of the highest standards that are appropriate.
