History of Primate Animal Study Center (PSSP) LPPM-IPB

The Primate Animal Study Center, Institute for Research and Service to the Community-Bogor Agricultural Institute (PSSP, LPPM-IPB) conducted various activities to implement its vision and mission. In accordance with the Rector’s Decree Number 080 / C / 1990 which has formed PSSP LPPM IPB. The study center carries out the duties and responsibilities to achieve the objectives of IPB especially to support the achievement of World Class University and Research Based University.

Primate Animal Study Center IPB LPPM was formed based on Rector Decree No. 080 / C / 1990 on July 28, 1990, to achieve a noble desire and shared concern for the strategic conditions as follows:

  1. Indonesian primates consisting of 35 species (now estimated to be 40 species) with various habitat types contribute to making Indonesia the second biodiversity country in the world.
  2. Indonesian primate animals have become flag-species in the national conservation movement and have become the umbrella (umbrella) of bioregional conservation.
  3. Thanks to its phylogenetic similarities, Indonesian primate animals are proven and have bright prospects as laboratory animals / animal models in national and international biomedical research programs for human welfare.
  4. The diversity of primates and their ecosystems makes a tremendous contribution in the development of comparative studies of biology, life science, anthropology and medicine and environmental quality.
  5. The ability of IPB in the development of human resources, science and technology and primatology-based policies will also become a milestone in national moral and competitiveness in the conservation of primate animals, improving the quality of life and state income and human welfare.
