Visit from Indonesian Proboscis Friends to the Primate Animal Study Center

On Saturday March 23, 2019, friends from the Indonesian Proboscis Friends visited the Primate Animal Study Center to explore cooperation between the two institutions.

Indonesian Proboscis Friends are a community formed by Indonesian Biodiversity as a form of concern that the population of proboscis monkeys (Nasalis larvatus) is decreasing in South Kalimantan. In order for the “Save Our Mascot” Mission to be realized Sahabat Bekantan promotes socialization efforts, habitat protection and cessation of proboscis monkey hunting. While its own conservation activities are centered on Pulau Bakut – Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan.

The environmental seminar and observation of proboscis monkeys are routine activities carried out by Bekantan friends, especially on weekends. The mission of saving bekantan from the threat of extinction is indeed not an easy job. In addition to establishing partnerships, the support of volunteers is expected to help realize the mission of “Save Our Mascot”.
