The bioactive protein fraction DLBS1033 derived from Lumbricus rubellus has the effect of thrombolysis, fibrinolysis, and fibrinogenolysis. In this test, the effects of the safety of bioactive protein fraction DLBS1033 were given on healthy long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). The test results on the Whole Blood Clot Lysis Time (WBCLT) showed that administration of DLBS1033 produced smaller blood clots with softer consistency compared to controls. In addition, the serum volume observed in the treatment group with DLBS1033 was greater than the control value. This shows that DLBS1033 provides a clot-dissolving effect, also known as thrombolysis effect. In terms of safety, DLBS1033 does not have a significant effect on the parameters of prothrombin time, platelet count, glucose level, and triglyceride levels. The administration of bioactive protein fraction DLBS1033 also had no effect on changes in long-tailed monkey weight which showed that even high doses did not affect the metabolism of healthy monkeys. Giving DLBS1033 looks safe, not toxic, does not affect the normal value of the hematological parameters tested, and generally does not interfere with the health of the treated monkey.
